Movie Review

Hey - I’ve not watched a lot recently so if ya want a review then this is the best I’ve got to work with . You have kids and see how much non cartoon stuff you watch.

This movie popped up on Sky recently after a short spell in the cinema.

This is originally a French movie called “ Falcon express “ it has been dubbed into English and now out there as “Pets On A Train”

The premise is simple enough , there are pets in cargo section of a train, the train is hijacked remotely and they have to find a way to work together and escape the train before it crashes.

The main characters are a raccoon - who is from the bad side of the tracks and who has fallen in with the villain … more on the villain later.

A young female cat, a famous rappers snake , a dog that passes out if has sugar , a posh dog , a couple of parrots ( one who can’t fly - which becomes a personal,if not predictable journey ) and a famous tortoise and fish duo who work in commercials and look like nemo and leonardo from TMNT - with a painted of face mask. The leader of this rag tag bunch ? An almost retired by the book Police dog who has to learn that things aren’t always black and white and you can adapt to help others.

As the train speeds along crashing and causing a lot of property damage to the city , the pets mush band together to uncouple cars to try and make the train lighter so it won’t crash when it hits a dangerous bridge. Fighting fires and other disasters along the way.

So let’s stop and take a moment to assess the part that for me .. was a step too far.

This universe the animals are only animals, yes they talk to each other but to humans - they are just pets.  Yes they can do a few non animal related tasks to traverse the train but … the villain and his partner, the ones who hacked in and hijacked a train … he is …. A badger … yes a badger who can use laptops , hacking software and communication devises … oh and he has a flying hover bike. He is the mastermind and his goal is to crash the train to kill the police dog due to him sending him to prison before… yeah … ok.

Verdict 7/10

Overall the movie is fun and entertaining, the kids loved it. But there was nothing that wasn’t predictable … well other than the mastermind being a badger lol
