Week 6: 6th February 2026

Hey everyone, Hope you have all had a great week, mine has been another busy work week so I've not watched any new movies to review this week, I hope to catch up for next week. I didn't win the access ballot to attend the Wuthering Heights premier this week, so no new celeb meets. I am out stage door hunting this weekend so fingers crossed i get some new photos. one I am really hoping to meet as they will complete my main cast collection for one TV show.

There have been a lot of guest announcements this week, but ... and I'm not sure if this is good or not , well its good for my bank, there aren't many I haven't already met. But a lot more are coming.

TV Review

Wonderman

For a Marvel series, Wonder Man arrived with almost no fanfare. All eight episodes dropped at once, and the release strategy made it feel as though Marvel either lacked confidence in the project or simply wanted it out of the way. That’s a real shame, because this is one of the stronger TV entries the MCU has produced.

The show follows Simon Williams, a struggling actor desperate to land the role of Wonder Man in a remake of his favourite childhood film. Along the way he crosses paths with Trevor Slattery — yes, that Trevor — whose chaotic history in the MCU makes him an unexpected but delightful partner in crime. What unfolds is essentially a buddy‑comedy wrapped inside a behind‑the‑scenes Hollywood satire… with a light dusting of superpowers.

Across its eight episodes, the series leans into themes of trust, redemption, and self‑worth. The powers are used sparingly; the real focus is the human drama, and it’s all the better for it. Despite Wonder Man being a Marvel character with over 40 years of comic history, he’s never been a household name. Even after reading thousands of issues, I knew very little about him — which made going in with a blank slate surprisingly refreshing.

This isn’t your typical Marvel outing. Much like how Captain America: The Winter Soldier felt like a spy thriller that happened to feature superheroes, Wonder Man feels like a buddy movie set behind the scenes of TV production… that just happens to involve people who can punch through walls. The show is peppered with fun Easter eggs and even introduces a couple of comic characters making their live‑action debut: Doorman and The Grim Reaper.

Ben Kingsley’s Trevor Slattery is a standout. On paper, he shouldn’t work — he should be irritating, a one‑note joke. Instead, he’s unexpectedly heartfelt. Beneath the chaos and confusion is a man who simply wants to act and have a real friend, and the show treats him with surprising compassion.

Verdict: 8/10

In the grand scheme of the MCU, not a lot “happens,” and the action is minimal. But what Wonder Man lacks in spectacle, it makes up for in heart. It’s sweet, earnest, and refreshingly character‑driven. I genuinely recommend giving it a try, and I hope we see these characters again — there’s so much potential for where their story could go next.

Transformers: Age Of The Primes- Alchemist Prime

Alchemist Prime arrives as a Deluxe Class figure, transforming into an armored car in 17 steps. His sculpt draws heavily from his Cyberverse appearance, but the colour palette nods to his Marvel “bartender” look. The designers have blended elements from his Marvel, Covenant of Primus, and Cyberverse incarnations to create a distinctive new head sculpt featuring a mustache, goggles, and a more alchemist‑like personality.

He comes equipped with his signature Lenses, which can be combined into an oversized pair of goggles or separated into twin blade‑like weapons. Each lens carries unique iconography: one features his personal emblem alongside the Ancient Autobot symbol first seen in Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4, while the other bears the Unicron insignia introduced with the Blentrons in Beast Wars Neo.

Again as a figure that's mainly only been seen in robot mode and mainly in text form, there has been alot of interpretation on what he transforms into, having settles on van mode, which seems less Cybertronian as would expect.

Transformation Notes & QC Warning

The included instructions depict his hands folding a full 90° into the forearms during transformation. This is not physically possible on the actual figure. The underside of the forearm’s 5 mm port blocks the fists from rotating that far, and attempting to force the motion will almost certainly create stress marks at the wrist connection — and may even crack the forearms.

Collectors should take care when transforming him or posing anything involving the hands. The fists can fold inward slightly, but nowhere near the angle shown in the instructions. As a result, the fists remain partially visible at the rear of the vehicle mode.

Verdict – 7/10 He is an interesting figure, basic but has a decent looking robot mode. though he isn't one that jumps out at you or one that i say you should rush out to buy. Mainly for completists only

Comic Review

Skybound: G.I. Joe Issue 17

I’ve never been a huge G.I. Joe fan — to me it will always be Action Force. I dipped in and out of it when I was younger because my best friend Paul was obsessed, so I watched and collected alongside him for a while. Every now and then I still wander back into the universe, and this new Skybound series pulled me in again. It spins directly out of the Transformers comic and forms part of the wider Energon Universe.

In this continuity, Cobra is still on the rise, and after the Transformers awaken, Duke is tasked with uncovering what they are and preventing Cobra from getting their hands on alien tech. This issue wraps up the Dreadnok War arc — a smaller faction with a grudge against Cobra Commander who are now hunting him down. The complication? Cobra Commander is currently Duke’s prisoner, and the two of them are handcuffed together. It becomes a race to see who reaches them first: the Dreadnoks or the Joes.

Most of the issue is a big, brutal final battle, full of blood and violence, as Cobra Commander reminds everyone exactly why he’s the one in charge. The arc ties up several smaller threads, including the Dreadnoks ultimately joining Cobra, and ends with a strong reveal about a certain suspiciously absent Dreadnok leader and where he’s been hiding.

The other major twist is the identity of the secret Transformer embedded within Duke’s team finally coming to light. It sets the stage for the long‑teased meeting between Duke and Optimus Prime, which is clearly going to be a major moment in the upcoming issues.

Verdict 8/10 -  A strong ending to the story and builds up what's to come next
