Week 11 20th March 2026

Some of you may have noticed last week there was no Blog, there were a few factors for that. I was still feeling low for the loss of my Cat, it has upset me more than i had realised. So I took some time to refresh, also with work being busy I just hadn't had time to watch much.  But its a new week and its been a busy week indeed. I have had 2 children's birthdays and then my own... yes I am now 43 !!! and I've had the whole week off work to rest and watch a lot of TV and movies.

Still no con fun for me but For the Love of Horror is getting closer so my con year can begin.

Movie Review

Pets ON A TRAIN

Hey - I’ve not watched a lot recently so if ya want a review then this is the best I’ve got to work with . You have kids and see how much non cartoon stuff you watch.

This movie popped up on Sky recently after a short spell in the cinema.

This is originally a French movie called “ Falcon express “ it has been dubbed into English and now out there as “Pets On A Train”

The premise is simple enough , there are pets in cargo section of a train, the train is hijacked remotely and they have to find a way to work together and escape the train before it crashes.

The main characters are a raccoon - who is from the bad side of the tracks and who has fallen in with the villain … more on the villain later.

A young female cat, a famous rappers snake , a dog that passes out if has sugar , a posh dog , a couple of parrots ( one who can’t fly - which becomes a personal,if not predictable journey ) and a famous tortoise and fish duo who work in commercials and look like nemo and leonardo from TMNT - with a painted of face mask. The leader of this rag tag bunch ? An almost retired by the book Police dog who has to learn that things aren’t always black and white and you can adapt to help others.

As the train speeds along crashing and causing a lot of property damage to the city , the pets mush band together to uncouple cars to try and make the train lighter so it won’t crash when it hits a dangerous bridge. Fighting fires and other disasters along the way.

So let’s stop and take a moment to assess the part that for me .. was a step too far.

This universe the animals are only animals, yes they talk to each other but to humans - they are just pets.  Yes they can do a few non animal related tasks to traverse the train but … the villain and his partner, the ones who hacked in and hijacked a train … he is …. A badger … yes a badger who can use laptops , hacking software and communication devises … oh and he has a flying hover bike. He is the mastermind and his goal is to crash the train to kill the police dog due to him sending him to prison before… yeah … ok.

Verdict 7/10

Overall the movie is fun and entertaining, the kids loved it. But there was nothing that wasn’t predictable … well other than the mastermind being a badger lol

TV Review

A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms arrived with surprisingly little noise. There was no big marketing push, no countdown, no cultural moment — it simply appeared on Sky Atlantic, almost quietly slipping into the schedule. Even as someone who keeps up with the Thrones universe, I didn’t realise it had begun until a few episodes were already out. In a franchise known for spectacle, this low‑key release felt almost surreal.

We’ve now had Game of Thrones (GOT), House of the Dragon (HOTD), and now this. While HOTD mirrors the original series with its political scheming, heavy drama, and looming sense of doom, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (AKOTSK) takes a completely different approach. It’s smaller in scale, gentler in tone, and far more interested in the everyday rhythms of Westeros life. Yes, there are hints of future significance — especially through Egg’s secret heritage — but the show isn’t driven by prophecy or power struggles. It’s driven by people.

Where GOT and HOTD thrive on tension, AKOTSK leans into warmth and humour. With shorter episodes, a lighter touch, and a surprisingly comedic sensibility, it almost feels like the first Westeros sitcom — and somehow, it works. The world is still recognisably the same, but the tone is refreshingly different. Instead of dragons and dynasties, we get awkward conversations, small‑scale adventures, and the kind of character moments that make the world feel lived‑in.

Set many years before GOT, the story follows Ser Duncan the Tall, a wandering knight trying to find his place in the world. Along the way he takes on a young squire, Egg — a boy whose true identity will eventually tie into the grander Targaryen saga. Through battles, flashbacks, and quiet moments on the road, the series explores what knighthood actually looks like when stripped of myth and legend. It’s not glamorous. It’s not heroic. It’s messy, human, and often funny.

What the show lacks in epic stakes, it makes up for in heart. Duncan and Egg are instantly likeable, and the chemistry between them carries the entire series. You root for them not because the fate of the realm depends on it, but because they’re good people trying to do their best in a complicated world. The humour doesn’t undercut the emotion — it enhances it, making the characters feel more real and more relatable than many of the franchise’s larger‑than‑life figures.

By the end, you’re not watching for political intrigue or shocking twists. You’re watching because you genuinely care about these two travellers and the small adventures that shape them.

Verdict: 8/10

It’s not essential viewing for the wider GOT universe, but it is a charming, engaging, and surprisingly heartfelt detour. If more seasons come, I’ll happily follow Duncan and Egg on their next journey. If not, this first outing stands as a warm, enjoyable slice of Westeros that proves the franchise can do more than war and tragedy.

Toy Review

Studio Series Windcharger

For my birthday, I got the newest edition of Generation 1 Windcharger — and for a character who’s had seven different molds over the years, this one finally feels like the definitive version. From his original minibot roots to the modern Generations line, each attempt has edged closer to screen accuracy, but this release is the first that truly nails the look, scale, and personality of Windcharger.

Robot Mode

The robot mode is where this figure really shines. For the first time, Windcharger fits perfectly into the Generations scale, lining up with the rest of the Ark crew exactly as he should. Scale has been a long‑standing issue across Transformers lines — sometimes wildly inconsistent — so seeing him stand at the correct height is genuinely satisfying for collectors who care about display accuracy.

Visually, he steps straight out of the cartoon. The head sculpt is spot‑on: clean, expressive, and unmistakably Windcharger. The proportions are faithful without feeling outdated, and the transformation engineering manages to keep the silhouette tidy and animation‑accurate.

Accessories & Features

He comes with his classic blaster, but the standout extra is the new magnetic field effect piece. In the show, Windcharger’s special ability is manipulating magnetic fields, and this accessory is a clever nod to that. It attaches to his chest or the car bonnet, giving you a fun display option. It’s not essential, but it’s a thoughtful touch that adds personality and play value.

Vehicle Mode

The vehicle mode is a clean, smooth, and very screen‑accurate car. The lines are crisp, the proportions look right, and the transformation doesn’t leave any awkward gaps or mismatched panels. It’s simple, but that simplicity works in its favour — it feels like Windcharger without trying too hard.

The Downside

The only real negative is the price. At £25, it’s definitely on the higher end for what is essentially a smaller figure. The quality is there, but the cost will make some collectors hesitate, especially if they’re not already attached to the character.

Verdict: 9/10

A fantastic figure and easily the best Windcharger we’ve ever had. For fans of the character or anyone aiming to complete the original Ark crew, this is a must‑have. Despite the price, the accuracy, engineering, and charm make it a standout addition to the Generations line.
